| The Christmas DJ |

I've always thought it would be cool to be a disk jockey on the radio. Spin just the right tunes from a vast music collection for all you listeners to enjoy, just as if you were at a party with your closest friends. My little brother was a DJ in college and even though his campus station had only enough wattage to basically cover the campus, he really enjoyed it.
Well it's almost Christmas and so today, I thought I'd try to play DJ for all of you friends and readers using the miracle of You Tube. I hope you enjoy my selections and Merry Christmas! Let's get to the first tune I'll yak away later:
(1) Christmas is Near (Stanley Brothers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkef-anasLY
Yes, folks Christmas is near three days to be exact. Have you done all your shopping? Here's a set from Doyle, Ralph and Jimmy:
(2) Mary's Christmas (Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5_2_A6R3vU
(3) I'm Going Home, It's Christmas Time (Ralph Stanley) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjG3caq2Erw
(4) Old Fashioned Christmas (Jimmy Martin & the Sunny Mountain Boys) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS_slbIFNdU
This next one is perhaps my favorite Bluegrass Christmas tune. I'll let Ralph Emery handle the introduction on this one:
(5) Christmas Times a Comin' (Bill Monroe) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXfBYXElPII
You old time fans out there may recognize the B part of an old fiddle tune as the basis for that song. It's called Christmas Time in the Morning.
Here are two more tunes I really like:
(6) Go Tell It on the Mountain (Larry Sparks) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63SVd4QW5EM
(7) Beautiful Star of Bethlehem (Stanley Brothers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tuo-gesXirw
Well it's been great fun spinning some tunes for you today. I can't believe how the time has flown! I'm going to let Bela and Norman take us out in a bit, but first I'd like to thank our sponsor, whom I hope you'll support: Peace on Earth; Good Will Toward Men. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, folks!
(8) Christmas Medley (Bela Fleck) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUlR8Jb__aM
(9) Star of the East (Norman & Nancy Blake, Vassar Clements) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwrQmAIenGE
