June Message from Our President Happy 35th Birthday CBA

I am dreaming of Grass Valley and know that everything I love about the festival will be bigger and grander than ever this year. The late spring rains will have the Scotch Broom and wild Sweet Peas blooming more extravagantly than in past years. The late winter snow will give the Yuba River more volume for family swimming trips. Our three stages and our new scheduling will allow the audience more choice and more bang for their buck. Our lineup is outstanding and includes a couple dozen California bands in addition to astounding and award winning performers from all over the world. We have expanded the activities for our youth and there will be a Saturday Night Dance. Bicycles for children wearing helmets are now allowed on the Fairgrounds (but not in the performance/concession area).

We will be bigger and better than ever and three generations of my family will attend and there will be something for all of them to enjoy. The festival is well known to pickers for non-stop jamming. The stages offer our audience and membership an opportunity to see bands that rarely travel out to California in addition to “sampling” regional bands from all over the State. There will be an opportunity to enjoy and thank some of our starring Pioneer California Bands for proving to the world that bluegrass is alive and well in our little corner of the world. We have Grammy winners and IBMA winners and Hall of Fame members and many of our members may not know that and after our 35th Anniversary bash our California contribution will be no secret.

Please join or rejoin, please buy a membership for your next generation so our organization can prosper into the future. We count on our members for their dues, their enormous talent and volunteerism and their enthusiasm. We are more than an organization, we are a community. See you in Grass Valley.
