Sage Dressing (1)
1/2 lb. sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
2 celery ribs, chopped
1 cup fresh mushrooms, chopped
2 tsp. vegetable oil
6 cups day-old bread, cubed
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup parsley, minced
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. rubbed sage
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Use a big skillet. Cook sausage, onion, celery and mushrooms in oil until the meat isn’t pink. Mix with everything else in a large bowl. Place in a 7" X 11" greased baking pan, cover and bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10-15 minutes more or until lightly browned. Serves 6.
This makes a wonderful dressing. I use Turkey sausage to make it and it gets rave reviews. It goes well with barbecued chicken too!
