For more nearly 25 years J.D. Rhynes has been sharing recipes, life experiences and his philosophy of life with readers of our Association Bluegrass Breakdown newspaper. A hard-living, larger-than-life and universally known personality in the world of bluegrass, who also just happens to be an excellent cook, J.D. has amassed a bushel of tasty recipes, colorful yarns and advice on the art of living over the years, and we’re proud to share them here on the CBA web site.
To view J.D.’s Breakdown columns in our archive, click here and select the year and month in which you’re interested.
To hear the story, in his own words, of how this musician, pipe-fitter, metal sculptor, nationally-know bluegrasser and long-time CBA volunteer and board member became a gastronome extraordinaire, click here.
To submit your own recipe to add to our line collection, just send it along to rcornish@sjcoe.net. (Please note that recipes need not include the narrative riffs and down-home annotations that characterize our resident gourmet’s contributions.)
And finally, if you're just looking for something to cook for dinner tonight, breakfast in the morning or a special luncheon for that special someone or someone’s, click on a recipe from the list below. Oh, and don’t forget, the list grows each month.
