Hooked on Bluegrass
Angelica Grim
My dad was a country singer and guitar player so I always heard music around the house. My sister and I were both singing as soon as we could talk. "Uncle Jack" called into a bluegrass radio station and won tickets to the Grass Valley festival when I was about 3 years old. The whole family packed up and went to the festival that year and we enjoyed it so much it became the yearly family vacation.
My sister and I started learning fiddle a couple years later..she stuck with it and I gave up. When I was about 13 I decided I wanted to play guitar to back myself up when I sang. I took a few lessons from Elena Corey and went to LOTS of jams. What really got me HOOKED on performing was the year Rhonda Vincent asked me to perform onstage with her. I was completely in love with the music and after that there was no way I could lose that.
