Hooked on Bluegrass

Jo Ellen Doering - 2008 version

My Mom and her family played “old timey” music and I learned a lot from her. Then, in the early 1960’s I had a Joan Baez LP; on it were a couple of tunes with The New Lost City Ramblers. I think it was Tom Paley on banjo. When I heard that sound I was transfixed. I put a deep groove in that LP from playing the banjo solo over and over. Soon after that I got my own banjo. I was totally into the banjo and bluegrass for many years; then I drifted away. I’m glad to say that I’ve found my way “back home” to bluegrass. I know I will never stray again.
