Hooked on Bluegrass
Chris Stapleton
I came into bluegrass kind of late in life actually. I kind of dropped out of school, was looking for a life direction, and started playing bluegrass with a good friend of mine, Jesse Wells, and another friend, J.T. Cure. We started playing a little bit of bluegrass around Kentucky.
Then many years later, through a sequence of events, I became a country songwriter in Nashville. After six or seven years of being a writer in Nashville, I met up with Mike Henderson, who is now the mandolin player with the SteelDrivers. He asked me if I’d like to play a little bluegrass and find a weekly gig or something. I said “Why not!!” We wound up in a band, and here we are!
