Hooked on Bluegrass

Rhonda Vincent

I got hooked on bluegrass from my family. I grew up in the Vincent family. Traced back, there are five generations of the Vincent family who played music. Our kind of music was considered country.

When I was five, we had a radio and television show, and made our first recording. My dad would pick me up from school every day. My grandpa, my dad and I would play music until dinner. After dinner, friends would come over and we had a jam session every night. It was acoustic music with an electric guitar.

Then in 1969, we went to our very first bluegrass festival in Ottumwa Iowa. We went to that festival, and we were hooked on bluegrass!
