Music camp -- Bummed that you could not get into the CBA Music Camp next week and you simply cannot wait until next year? Then consider the American River Acoustic Music Camp, which will take place from August 10th-14th in Coloma. Registration is now open. It will be held at the scenic American River Resort on the banks of the American River. Instructors for this year’s camp include Steve Palazzo (flatpicking guitar), Megan Lynch (fiddle), Kathy Barwick (dobro), Debbie McClatchy (old-time frailing banjo), Keith Little (vocals), Janet Beazley (banjo), Lisa Burns (bass), Chris Stuart (rhythm guitar and songwriting), Dix Bruce (mandolin & guitar), John Massey (beginning guitar), and Michelle Kiba will be teaching ukulele. Keith Greeniger returns this year with his inspirational songwriting classes, and Joe Craven will be camp artistic director. The camp is pleased to announce that they have scholarship opportunities available for individuals who are unable to pay for the cost of camp. Jammin’ in Bakersfield -- Kelvin Gregory has organized a new bluegrass jam on the first Monday of every month at Rusty’s Pizza in Bakersfield. Jammin’ in Alameda -- The place to be for bluegrass pickin’ on Monday nights is McGrath’s Pub in Alameda. Starting at 7:30 you’ll find familiar faces all around you on bass, mandolins, guitars, banjos and fiddles.

Busy beans -- Bean Creek has a busy start to the month. Tonight you can see them play bluegrass at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and then on Tuesday the 3rd they will be at Sam’s Bar-B-Que in San Jose from 6-9 p.m.

Jammin’ in Signal Hill -- Every Monday night, from 6-9 p.m., there is a bluegrass jam at Curley’s Café in Signal Hill. The address is 1999 E Willow Street at Cherry Avenue. Everyone is welcome. For more info contact Jim Wieser at

Jammin’ in Loomis -- Every Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. you are invited to join the jam at the Wild Chicken Coffee House on Taylor Road in Loomis.

Jammin’ in Escondido -- In the San Diego County area, the North County Bluegrass Association holds their Bluegrass Night jam every first Tuesday of the month. This is a free event that is open to members and the general public, offering live bluegrass and folk music from 7-10 p.m. Meet at Round Table Pizza, on the corner of Ash and Washington Streets, in Escondido.
