Snazzy Jerry -- Snazzy Productions tonight at 7:30 p.m. is presenting The Jerry Douglas Band at Don Quixote’s in Felton. See for yourself why the dobro whiz has won 12 Grammys already.

Jammin’ in Alameda -- The place to be for bluegrass pickin’ on Monday nights is McGrath’s Pub in Alameda. Starting at 7:30 you’ll find familiar faces all around you on bass, mandolins, guitars, banjos and fiddles.

Brewglass at Amnesia -- Don’t miss Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys at Amnesia in San Francisco tonight, starting at 8:30. No cover.

Jammin’ in Signal Hill -- Every Monday night, from 6-9 p.m., there is a bluegrass jam at Curley’s Café in Signal Hill. The address is 1999 E Willow Street at Cherry Avenue. Everyone is welcome. For more info contact Jim Wieser at

Jumpin’ beans -- Bean Creek has a busy start to the month. Tonight you can see them play bluegrass at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and then on Tuesday the 6th they will be at Sam’s Bar-B-Que in San Jose from 6-9 p.m. And then starting on Thursday the 8th they will be one of the featured bands at the Parkfield Bluegrass Festival.

Jammin’ in Corona -- There is a bluegrass jam on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 7-10 p.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church, 2331 Kellogg Avenue, in Corona. For more info contact Todd Holtkamp at or (951) 347-2597.

The state of Utah -- Legendary folk singer U. Utah Phillips is currently recovering from congestive heart failure, and a bunch of musicians will be playing a benefit on the 6th at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley at 8 p.m. to help defray his medical expenses. See Jody Stecher & Kate Brislin, Laurie Lewis & Tom Rozum, Eric & Suzy Thompson, Larry Hanks, Faith Petric, and Ray Bierl. Join them for an evening dedicated to honoring the artistry of Utah.

Jammin’ in Loomis -- Every Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. you are invited to join the jam at the Wild Chicken Coffee House on Taylor Road in Loomis.

Jammin’ in Merced -- There is a new bluegrass jam beginning in Merced on the first Wednesday of every month, and the inaugural jam is on the 7th starting at 7 p.m. at the Me-N-Ed's Pizzeria on G Street and Yosemite Avenue. The Merced Bluegrass Society will present this jam. For more info email

Greencards reminder -- The Greencards on the 5th will be at the Little Fox in Redwood City, and on the 6th at the Sierra Nevada Tap Room in Chico.

Hardly Strictly lives up to its name -- The first round of acts for this year’s free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in SF’s Golden Gate Park on October 3rd-5th have been announced, and true to its title, there is less bluegrass than Americana as of now. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, The Del McCoury Band, Earl Scruggs, Hazel Dickens, Asleep at the Wheel, Loudon Wainright III, Iris Dement, The Desert Rose Band, and others. But more acts will be added in the coming months, so stay tuned and block out the dates.
