Bluegrass in Moss Landing -- This evening at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing from 6:30-8:30 p.m. you can experience live bluegrass with Deep Elem. The band is John Kael on banjo, mando and vocals, Billy Pitrone on guitar and vocals, Annie Staninec on fiddle and vocals and Sarah Eblen on bass and vocals.

Hoppin’ time in Fairfax -- Don’t miss Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys when the play at the Iron Springs Brewerey in Fairfax on the 30th. No cover, great food and microbrew.

Bluegrass in Auburn -- There is good food and hot bluegrass being served tonight at Latitudes in Auburn from 7:30-9 p.m. with Mountain Laurel providing the picking. No cover.

South Bay bluegrass barbeque -- See Matt & George and The Pleasant Valley Boys play on the 30th at Sam’s Bar-B-Q in San Jose from 6-9 p.m. Reserve a table at (408) 297-9151.

Jammin' in Marin -- The Marin Bluegrass Jam, which has been running for almost nine years now, takes place on the first and third Thursdays of every month. So tomorrow you can join in at the Marin Lutheran Church at 649 Meadowsweet in Corte Madera, just off the Corte Madera exit of Highway 101. The time is 7:30-10 p.m. The playing level is beginner to intermediate. It is a big room, so there is also space for those who may want to go and listen.

Kleptograss in Berkeley -- Eric Thompson leads an all-star band called Kleptograss that will be playing eclectic music at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley on the 1st at 8 p.m. In the band are Scott Nygaard, Jody Stecher, Paul Shelasky and Paul Knight. Their ever-expanding repertoire borrows freely from American mountain music, Puerto Rican jibaro, Western Swing, Greek rembetika, Irish reels, Southern blues, the music of Django Reinhardt, and other places.

Jammin’ in Sacto -- Every Thursday evening, from 7-10 p.m., there is a jam at The Fifth String Music Store, located at Alhambra & J Streets in Sacramento.

Here come The Greencards -- Most of you will remember The Greencards, who played Father’s Day Festival last year. They are on tour in the state playing many gigs over the next week, and you will have many chances to see them. On the 1st it will be the Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne, on the 2nd the SOhO Restaurant and Music Club in Santa Barbara, on the 3rd the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, on the 5th the Little Fox in Redwood City, and on the 6th at the Sierra Nevada Tap Room in Chico.

Jammin’ in San Jose -- There is a jam tomorrow night in the South Bay at Mountain Mikes Pizza, 1532 Branham Lane, San Jose, from 6-10 p.m. The jam is held every first and third Thursday of the month. Bluegrass in San Francisco -- The Atlas Cafe in San Francisco presents the best in live bluegrass and old-time music every Thursday night from 8-10 p.m. Tomorrow you can see Dark Hollow when they play their usual first Thursday of the month gig there. No cover charge.

Jammin’ in Berkeley -- Thursday night is beginners jam night at the 5th String Music Store, 3051 Adeline Street, in Berkeley, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

My Favorite Martians -- Okay, if you remember that TV show, you are getting close to retirement! See the Salt Martians play bluegrass every Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for happy hour at the Tupelo Junction Cafe, 1218 State Street, in Santa Barbara. Call (805) 899-3100 for dinner reservations. Full bar and no cover.

Ralph reminder -- Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys will be playing on May 2nd and 3rd at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley.
