Early bird special -- The Father’s Day Festival early bird price of $95 for CBA adult member four-day tickets is good until February 28th, so buy your tickets now and save some cash. The ticket order form is also in the Bluegrass Breakdown, or you can order them here on the site. The lineup includes The Dan Tyminski Band, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Goldwing Express, Blue Highway, Bradley Walker (IBMA Male Vocalist of 2007), Crooked Still, Grasstowne, The Wilders, The Doerfel Family, and more.

Poetic Justis in Sacto -- The trio Poetic Justis, featuring Michael Justis on guitar, Kathy Barwick on dobro and Steven McLean on guitar, will be playing at the Fox & Goose in downtown Sacramento (10th & R streets) on the 21st, starting at 8 p.m.

Jammin' in Marin -- The Marin Bluegrass Jam, which has been running for 8.5 years now, takes place on the first and third Thursdays of every month. So tonight you can join in at the Marin Lutheran Church at 649 Meadowsweet in Corte Madera, just off the Corte Madera exit of Highway 101. The time is 7:30-10 p.m. The playing level is beginner to intermediate. It is a big room, so there is also space for those who may want to go and listen.

Capital jammin' -- Tonight in Sacramento from 7-10 p.m. is the third Thursday bluegrass jam at the Cafe Refugio Coffeehouse, 1901 Del Paso Boulevard, between Arden and El Camino.

Nightbirds in flight -- Julay Brooks & The Nightbirds will be playing at McGrath’s in Alameda on the 22nd from 8-11 p.m. The band will be Julay on guitar, Larry Cohea on banjo, Markie Sanders on bass, with special guests Tom Bekeny on mandolin and Tony Marcus on fiddle. Three sets of bluegrass, country, and the occasional Western Swing number.

Dancing soles -- The Old Soles will be appearing at the Backroads Coffee House, 74 Main Street, Sutter Creek, on the 22nd from 7-9 p.m. The duo is Geff Crawford and Masha Goodman Crawford, playing banjo, fiddle, guitar, tin whistle, and banjo-uke. They play old-time traditional fiddle and banjo tunes from the southern US, Irish reels and jigs.

Earl Brothers head south -- The Earl Brothers band from San Francisco will be playing at The Clubhouse, 740 W. Foothill Blvd., in San Luis Obispo, at 8:30 p.m. on the 22nd and on the 23rd you can see them at the San Dieguito United Methodist Church in Encinas.

Sawmill Road shows -- Sawmill Road, formerly known as the F-150s, will be playing CD release shows at the Fifth String in Sacramento on the 22nd and at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, NV, on the 23rd. Be the first one on your block to obtain a copy of their new Sawmill Road 1 CD. The band is Steve Spurgin on bass, Bruce Smith on fiddle, Charlie Edsall on guitar, Dick Brown on banjo and Mark Miracle on mandolin.

Soggy Mt. Fest -- The Soggy Mountain Festival will be taking place in Quartsite, AZ, on the 22nd-24th. You can see Cliff Wagner and The Old #7, The Wildwood Valley Boys, Flint Hill Special, Eric Uglum and Sons and more.

Jammin’ in Sonora -- On the 22nd there will be a bluegrass jam at the Old Stan in Sonora, so head on over at 7 p.m. This jam has no ending time so people are welcome to pick until they drop.

Rowan reminder -- The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band will be playing on the 21st at Sweetwater Station in Larkspur, on the 22nd at The Palms in Winters, and on the 23rd the Redwood Bluegrass Associates show in Mountain View.
