Hardly IBMA -- This is the biggest week of the year for bluegrass junkies. Those that planned on going are either en route or have already arrived at the IBMA World of Bluegrass in Nashville, TN, which runs from today until October 3rd. Also happening this weekend is the free 10th Annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. For years these two events have been clashing, but the word on the street is that finally, in 2011, they will not take place in the same week, which is great news for folks that like to attend both. Speaking of the latter, it was the cover story in the SF Chronicle’s Pink Section yesterday (read stories here and here ), so expect even more people than ever to attend this year. Especially if the weather is predicted to be anything like it was this past weekend, when summer finally arrived in the Bay Area…

Emmylou on tour -- She will once again be closing the HSB Fest on October 3rd, but if you want to see Emmylou Harris without having to wade through 100,000 people then go to Humphreys Concerts by the Bay in San Diego on the 27th, to the Napa Valley Opera House on the 29th, or to Harrah’s in Tahoe on the 30th.
