Grand old time in Berkeley -- The Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention started on the 8th and runs through the 12th, so go to the site for complete info.

Wild weekend -- The Marin County band Dr. Elmo & Wild Blue can be seen playing at the Marin Country Mart (a.k.a. Larkspur Landing) on the 10th from 5-8 p.m., and at The Solano Avenune Stroll in Albany on the 12th at 12, 2 and 4 p.m. Both are free events.

Goodbye, Bill and Megan -- According to a recent email, the Bill Evans & Megan Lynch duo will be playing their final shows this weekend before going different ways. You can see them play at a house concert in Piedmont on the 10th and the Anderson Marsh Festival on the 11th.

Brothers down south -- The SF band The Earl Brothers are down south this weekend, and they will be playing original hillbilly music at The Club House in San Luis Obispo on the 10th and at Boulevard Music in Culver City on the 11th.

Natural Drift in Cameron Park -- Natural Drift will once again be playing at the Hemalayas Restaurant in Cameron Park on the 10th. Music starts at 7:30 and there is no cover or minimum.

Brown Barn Fest -- Some of the bands you can see at The Brown Barn Bluegrass Festival in San Martin on the 10th-12th are Sidesaddle & Company, Oak Grove, Angelica Grim and Friends, Pleasant Valley Boys, OMGG, Snap Jackson and the Knock on Wood Players, Dalton Mountain Gang, Dark Hollow, Kitchen Help and Windy Hill.

Bluegrass in the park in Clovis -- The Grasskickers will be playing the Bluegrass in the Park series on the 10th in the Clovis Veteran's Memorial Square from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is a free event.

David Grier on tour -- Amazing guitarist David Grier will be at Schoenberg Guitars in Tiburon on the 10th and in Santa Clara on the 12th.

Bluegrass fest in Lower Lake -- The Anderson Marsh Old-Time Bluegrass Festival takes place on the 11th with the John Reischman Jaybird Trio, Rita Hosking, Bound to Ride, Bill Evans & Megan Lynch and much more.

Ukeing in St. Helena -- The annual Wine Country Ukulele Festival takes place in St. Helena on the 11th and 12th, and Tiny Tim will not be in attendance…

Bluegrass fundraiser in Vallejo -- Lots of fun will be had at the Blue Rock Springs Bluegrass Fund Raiser for Vista Farms in Vallejo on the 11th with the Alhambra Valley Band, The West County Professional Tea Sippers, Spinning Wheel and The Mighty Chiplings.

Faithful for 95 years -- Renowned SF folk singer Faith Petric will be celebrating 95 years of singing and more at her birthday party at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley on the 11th starting at 8 p.m.

Special night in Sonoma -- At Murphy’s Irish Pub in the town of Sonoma it will be traditional bluegrass with Carolina Special on the 11th from 8-10 p.m. No cover, and good food and beer in a family friendly atmosphere.

Jammin’ in Paso Robles -- "Matt's Jam" takes place on the second Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Matt's Music, 617 12th Street, in downtown Paso Robles. For more information call (805) 237-0054.

The Bluegrass Mix -- The site called The Bluegrass Mix streams bluegrass online 24/7. Sky Powers has a show called Pacifically Bluegrass, and it airs every Saturday evening from 4-8 p.m. out here in CA. He plays a fine mix of bluegrass, both old and new, with an emphasis on new releases and he also devotes a portion of his show to playing and promoting the bluegrass bands of the Pacific West and Rockies. The show on the 11th will feature new CDs from The Tuttles with A.J. Lee, 49 Special, The Kathy Kallick Band, Lonesome Otis, and Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys. Jammin’ in Modesto -- There is a jam in Modesto taking place at Ingram and Braun’s Musik Shoppe on Saturdays from 3-5 p.m. at their location at 503 Bangs Avenue. Go on by to join the fun!

Cool dudes -- The Grateful Dudes will be playing bluegrass on the 11th at Vincenzo’s Pizza in Newhall from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Band members Bill Bryson, Dennis Fetchet, Scott Micale and Rodger Phillips have been playing at Vincenzo’s for over 20 years now.

Jammin’ in Sebastopol -- The place for bluegrass pickin' on Saturdays is the Coffee Catz, 6761 Sebastopol Ave, from 2-5 p.m.

Grits in San Gregorio -- Harmony Grits will be playing bluegrass and beyond on the 11th at the San Gregorio General Store south of Half Moon Bay from 2-5 p.m. No cover, you can have a beer and also get you shopping done while you are there.

Extended Roots benefit -- There will be a benefit concert for the Bay Area Crisis Nursery with the Extended Roots all-women band playing American folk music on the 11th at 7:30 p.m. at the Walnut Avenue United Methodist Church in Walnut Creek.

Scott Gates in Ventura -- Young mandolinist Scott Gates will be appearing with Nathan McEuen and Chuck Hailes on the 12th at the Olivas Adobe Historical Park in Ventura starting at 7:30 p.m.

Oak Grove in Moraga -- The family band Oak Grove will be playing from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the 12th at the Moraga Farmer’s Market. Bluegrass and arugula go great together!

Swingin’ in Petaluma -- Swing Tonic delivers an eclectic mix of swing, folk, country, jazz, 'round-the-world delicacies and just about anything in between on the 12th starting from 3-6 p.m. at the Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma. Drawing from their varied musical background, the four members blend vocal harmony with the surprisingly un-clashing sounds of accordion, trumpet, guitar, mandolin and bass. No cover charge, and the venue is kid friendly.

Jammin’ in Orangevale -- From 12-5 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month the California Old-Time Fiddlers’ Association meets at the Orangevale Grange Hall, 5805 Walnut, in Orangevale. (916) 966-9067.
