Lovable Lyle -- Hey, Julia Roberts once thought he was cute! You can judge for yourself by seeing Lyle Lovett at the Uptown Theatre in Napa on the 21st, at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on the 22nd, at the Disney Concert Hall in LA on the 23rd, at Humphrey’s By the Bay in San Diego on the 25th, on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on the 26th, and at The Grove in Anaheim on the 27th.

Jammin’ in Santa Clara -- The CBA sponsors a new jam on the first and third Wednesdays at Neto's Market & Grill at 1313 Franklin Street from 6-8:30 p.m. Bring your instrument and your appetite.

The Brombies in Burbank -- The Brombies play bluegrass on the first, third, and occasionally the fifth Wednesday nights at Viva Cantina in Burbank starting at 8 p.m.

Brothers in Berkeley -- Tonight The Whiskey Brothers will be playing their twice monthly gig at the Albatross Pub in Berkeley starting at 9 p.m. They play classic Western swing, bluegrass and original music, featuring great vocal harmonies. The band includes local music-scene veterans Jeff Ward on mandolin, Dave Courchaine, guitar, John MacFarlane on fiddle, Bruce Campbell on bass, and Craig Fletcher on banjo. No cover.

Roundup time in San Francisco -- The Atlas Cafe presents the best in live bluegrass and old-time music every Thursday night from 8-10 p.m., and on the 22nd it will be Jeanie & Chuck’s Country Roundup playing some bluegrass and honky-tonk tunes.

Wailin’ in NorCal -- The wonderful vocal trio known as The Wailin’ Jennys can be seen playing at the Palm’s in Winters on the 22nd, at the Sebastopol Community Center on the 23rd, and at the Trinity Tribal Stomp in Junction City on the 25th.

Jammin’ in Morgan Hill -- In Morgan Hill the CBA sponsored jam takes place on Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Grange, located at 40 E. 4th Street, except on the third Thursday of each month, when it happens at The Music Tree, located at 17470 Monterey Street. Riders in the Sky in Napa -- America’s favorite cowboys Riders in the Sky will be playing a show at the Napa Opera House on the 22nd starting at 8 p.m. This is their last CA show for 2010, so get out and see them!

Jammin’ in Berkeley -- Thursday night is beginners jam night at the 5th String Music Store, 3051 Adeline Street, in Berkeley, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Rangers with rhythm -- Sonoma County's Americana artist Kevin Russell and his Western swing/blues/rock band, The Rhythm Rangers, will play at the Sebastopol Town Plaza on the 22nd from 6-7:30 p.m. This is a free event.

Jammin’ in Sacto -- Every Thursday folks gather to jam from 7-10 p.m. at the Fifth String Music Store, located at Alhambra & J Streets in Sacramento. You are invited to attend.

Martians in Santa Barbara -- See the Salt Martians play bluegrass every Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. for happy hour at the Tupelo Junction Cafe, 1218 State Street, in Santa Barbara. Call (805) 899-3100 for dinner reservations. Full bar and no cover.

‘bout Time in Los Altos -- Enjoy the bluegrass of ‘bout Time while you shop for veggies at the Farmers Market in Los Altos on the 22nd from 4-8 p.m.

Pickin’ in Petaluma -- Ed Neff and Friends play bluegrass every Thursday at the Willowbrook Ale House in Petaluma from 6:30-9:30 p.m. There is no cover, and you get to hear some of the finest traditional bluegrass in the North Bay. The regular pickers are Ed Neff on mandolin, Mike Wilhoyte on guitar, Jeff King on bass, Paul Shelasky on fiddle, and banjoist Larry Cohea. The address is 3600 Petaluma Boulevard North. Iris on tour -- If you are a fan of singer Iris DeMent then you already know that she will be appearing at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City on the 22nd, at the Freight in Berkeley on the 23rd, at the Mystic in Petaluma on the 24th, and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz on the 25th.

Jammin’ in Redwood City -- The weekly bluegrass and old-time jam known as "Peninsula Bluegrass Crossing" (PBC) takes place on Thursdays and the location is a coffee shop called Café Sportivo, 965 Brewster Avenue in Redwood City from 7-10 p.m. For more info contact Mark at rwcbluegrass@gmail.

Swingin’ in Oakland -- Swing Tonic delivers an eclectic mix of swing, folk, country, jazz, 'round-the-world delicacies and just about anything in between. Drawing from their varied musical background, the four members blend vocal harmony with the surprisingly un-clashing sounds of accordion, trumpet, guitar, mandolin and bass. See them play at the Spice Monkey Café in downtown Oakland on the 22nd starting at 7:30 p.m. No cover charge and kids are welcome.
