Tashina Clarridge & Jefferson Hamer, July 3, Sacramento
Fiddler Tashina Clarridge & guitarist Jefferson Hamer will play a concert at the home of Paul & Candy Anderson, 2548 8th Ave, Sacramento, on July 3 at 800 PM (doors open at 730 PM). Tashina Clarridge is a Grand National Fiddle Champion & tours with several bands. She enjoys a lively pursuit of bluegrass, Appalachian old-time, Irish fiddling, & the fusion of such styles, sometimes labeled “new acoustic” music. Jefferson Hamer has a surprisingly fresh voice in today's world of introspective singer-songwriters. His musicality reflects a breadth of influences, & his own songs echo the distilled melodies & lyricism of British, Irish, & American traditional music. Refreshments will be served, & the donation of $15 all goes to the musicians. Reserve your seat with Paul & Candy Anderson via phone at (916) 455-6312, or email paulncandy@comcast.net.

Rita Hosking & Cousin Jack, July 9, Sacramento
Rita Hosking & her band Cousin Jack will play a house/yard concert at the home of Richard & Tracie Fike on July 9 at 730 p.m. (gate opens at 630 p.m.). Theirs is an outstanding venue for a house concert. Rita & her band are well-known in the Sacramento area from her gigs at festivals & other venues, & they are now touring internationally. Her soulful & intense delivery of a song reminds you of kitchen tables, springs, loss, miners, mountains, culture clash, trailers, stray dogs, loggers, hope, & forest fires. Reservations are required via rfike@surewest.net. $20 donation. Bring your lawn chairs for seating, & carpooling is encouraged.

Jam / Potluck of the Month, July 17, Davis
Dean Labadie will host a jam / potluck in the parking lot behind his store, Strelitzia Flower Co., 4614 Second Street, Davis, on July 17, starting at 2 p.m. Bring your own chairs, beverages, & a potluck dish. For more info, email delabadie@sbcglobal.net.

Kerner Breaux, 1943-2010
Kerner Breaux, bassist with the Notorious Shank Brothers & other bands, passed over Jordan on June 2 due to heart failure. He was an energetic jammer at many CBA events & always made his presence felt. His rendition of “Home Grown Tomatoes” will be fondly remembered, & he will be greatly missed by all. Steve West has organized a memorial jam for Kern on July 10, starting at 11 a.m., at Fair Oaks Park, near the corner of Fair Oaks & Madison in Fair Oaks; access to the parking lot is off Fair Oaks Blvd just south of the library. Bring your instruments, potluck dish, beverages, & chairs. Iced bottled water will be provided. Alcohol is permitted but not in glass containers. Come pick some tunes for Kern; he would want it that way. For more info contact Steve or Kathy West at (916) 966-3916.
