Strawberry fields -- The Strawberry Music Festival up by Yosemite starts on Thursday and it will run through Memorial Day Weekend. Some friends have tickets that they are trying to sell, so if you need one contact me at the link listed at the bottom of this column. There are still tickets available on the fest site, and individuals have tickets for sale on the Ticket Exchange. If you do make it up to the festival, stop by the mess hall some morning for the live Breakfast Club show. Yours truly is the host in the bathrobe, red slippers and strawberry pajamas. Or tune into the show on the Hog in-camp radio station. Some of the acts you can see at the fest are Lyle Lovett, The Desert Rose Band, Patty Loveless, Marley's Ghost, Crooked Still, 18 South, The Quebe Sisters, Warren Hood and the Hoodlums, The Brothers Comatose, Sweet Sunny South, and Joy Kills Sorrow.

Woody in Marin -- The Marin Theatre Company’s production of Woody Guthrie’s American Song in Mill Valley is in previews on the 27th of this week, and the show will officially run from June 1st-20th. There was a great story about the show the other day in the Marin Independent Journal.

Bluegrass videos -- There is a wonderful site here put together by Carl Carlson, a member of the South East Bluegrass Association in Atlanta, GA, that features free videos of many of your favorite current bluegrass bands as well as classics of the Stanley Brothers, Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin, Bill Monroe and many more. The website currently has over 250 videos in the library. The site also features a free email subscription service where if you sign up you can receive newly added videos by email.

The Green Cards -- The Green Cards have been all over the place recently, and you can still see them at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico on the 24th and at Don Quixote’s in Felton on the 25th.

Earl Brothers in SF -- Monday is always bluegrass night at Amnesia in SF, and tonight you can see The Earl Brothers starting at 8:30 p.m.

Jammin’ in Alameda -- The place to be for bluegrass pickin’ on Monday nights is McGrath’s Pub in Alameda. Starting at 8:30 p.m. you’ll find familiar faces all around you on bass, mandolins, guitars, banjos and fiddles.

Ramblers in Moss Landing -- Tonight is bluegrass night at Phil’s Fish Market with The Courthouse Ramblers playing from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Jammin’ in Ventura -- Zoey’s Café in Ventura features bluegrass jammin’ on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 6-9:30 p.m.

Burrito grass -- The Monday night Baja Taqueria Invitational Bluegrass Jam in Oakland at 8 p.m. will feature Gene Tortora, Mitch Polzak, Bruce Campbell, Mark Comstock and Dan Large. Have a burrito and enjoy the bluegrass.

Jammin’ in Signal Hill -- Every Monday night, from 6-9 p.m., there is a bluegrass jam at Curley’s Café in Signal Hill. The address is 1999 E Willow Street at Cherry Avenue. Everyone is welcome. For more info contact Jim Wieser at jimmy351@aol.com.

Turn your radio on -- Tune into the Bluegrass Country show every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon on KMUD up in Garberville to hear Ken Jorgenson playing two hours of bluegrass and country music. Ken also is the owner of Blue Heron soft-shell instrument cases.

Deep Elem at Phil's -- On the 25th at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing from 6:30-8:30 p.m. you can experience live bluegrass with Deep Elem. No cover.

South Bay bluegrass barbecue -- The Seabright Beach Mountain Boys will be pickin’ bluegrass to go along with the spicy barbeque at Sam’s Bar-B-Que in San Jose on the 25th from 6-9 p.m. Reserve a table at (408) 297-9151.
