Winter music camp -- The new CBA Winter Music Camp, taking place February 15th-18th near Petaluma in western Marin County, is starting to fill up, but there is still some room left. A finger-style guitar class, taught by Steve Baughman, has also been added for the first time. Go to the web page above more info.

The Grascals are coming! -- The Grascals, besides winning the IBMA Entertainer of the Year Award in 2006 and 2007, are one of the hottest bands on the bluegrass circuit right now. They were Dolly Parton’s bluegrass band, and they have a great sound on their own. Their banjo player, Kristen Scott Benson, won the IBMA Banjo Player of the Year Award in 2008 and 2009. They will be playing at Don Quixote’s in Felton on the 25th, at the Great American Music Hall in SF on the 26th (the Marin County bluegrass band Keystone Station opens), the Black Oak Casino in Toulumne on the 27th, in Lincoln on the 28th, and at the Hanford Theatre on the 30th (The Nathan McEuen Band w/ Scott Gates opens).

Jammin’ in Corona -- There is a bluegrass jam on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 7-10 p.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church, 2331 Kellogg Avenue, in Corona. For more info contact Todd Holtkamp at onetoad@adelphia.net or (951) 347-2597.

Bluegrass in SF -- The Amnesia bar in SF has bluegrass every Monday, and tonight you can see Toshio Hirano play starting at 8:30 p.m. No cover.

Jammin’ in Ventura -- Zoey’s Café in Ventura features bluegrass jammin’ on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 6-9:30 p.m.

Ramblers in Moss Landing -- Tonight is bluegrass night at Phil’s Fish Market with The Courthouse Ramblers playing from 6-8 p.m.

Jammin’ in Alameda -- The place to be for bluegrass jammin’ on Monday nights is McGrath’s Pub in Alameda. Starting at 8:30 you’ll find familiar faces all around you on bass, mandolins, guitars, banjos and fiddles.

Jammin’ in Signal Hill -- Every Monday night, from 6-9 p.m., there is a bluegrass jam at Curley’s Café in Signal Hill. The address is 1999 E Willow Street at Cherry Avenue. Everyone is welcome. For more info contact Jim Wieser at jimmy351@aol.com.

Burrito grass -- The Monday night Baja Taqueria Invitational Bluegrass Jam in Oakland at 8 p.m. will feature Betsy Maudlin, Jerry Barush, Gerry Tenney, Dave Courchaine and Red Rick. Have a burrito and enjoy the bluegrass.

Turn your radio on -- Tune into the Bluegrass Country show every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon on KMUD up in Garberville to hear Ken Jorgenson playing two hours of bluegrass and country music. Ken also is the owner of Blue Heron soft-shell instrument cases.

Deep Elem at Phil's -- On the 12th at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing from 6-8 p.m. you can experience live bluegrass with Deep Elem. They play there every Tuesday. No cover.

Fiddle tunes jam in SF -- The second Tuesday fiddle tunes jam will take place on the 12th at the SoCha Café in SF on Mission Street near Valencia. The picking begins around 8 p.m. Fiddles, banjos, guitars, mandolins, wash tubs, bass, jugs, saws, autoharps etc., are all welcome but they especially need more guitars and fiddles.

Jam class in Berkeley -- The latest Intro to Bluegrass Jamming class at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley began on January 5th and takes place every Tuesday. Led by Ran Bush, guest instructors include Bill Evans, Jim Nunally and Megan Lynch. For more info go to the link. Drop-ins are welcome.

Jammin’ in La Mesa -- The San Diego Bluegrass Society presents a jam on the second Tuesday of every month at Fuddruckers in La Mesa from 7-9 p.m.

South Bay bluegrass barbeque -- John Murphy’s Carolina Special will be pickin’ some hot bluegrass to go along with the spicy barbeque at Sam’s in San Jose on the 12th from 6-9 p.m. Reserve a table at (408) 297-9151.
