Strawberry reminder -- If you want to save some expense on tickets for the Strawberry Music Festivals on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends you must do so by January 16th in order to save $10 for each fest. Some of the acts already booked are the Flatlanders, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, Wronglers, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Natalie MacMaster and Sawmill Road.

Rhonda is here! -- Rhonda Vincent & The Rage are in state and you have ample choices to see them play. On the 14th go to the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, on the 15th at The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, on the 16th at the Morgan Hill Grange Hall, on the 17th at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande, and on the 18th at the Blythe Bluegrass Festival.

Cadillac Sky in Tuolumne -- See the bluegrass band Cadillac Sky playing at the Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne tonight starting at 8 p.m.

Old-time is not a crime in Portland -- At least for the next few days it won’t be. The 10th Annual Portland Old-Time Gathering starts today and runs through the 18th with The Flat Iron Stringband, Foghorn Caleb Klauder Country Band, Ebenezer, The Earl White Band and lots more.

Bluegrass in Moss Landing -- Every Wednesday night at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing from 6-8 p.m. you can experience live bluegrass. Tonight see Mr. Banjo & The Lonesome Wailers play.

Jammin’ in Paso Robles -- "Matt's Jam" takes place every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Matt's Music, 617 12th Street, in downtown Paso Robles. For more information call (805) 237-0054.

South Bay bluegrass barbeque -- Diana Donnelly & The Yes Ma’ams will be entertaining you with bluegrass and vintage country songs to go along with the spicy barbeque at Sam’s in San Jose tonight from 6-9 p.m. Reserve a table at (408) 297-9151.

Pickin’ in Petaluma -- Ed Neff and Friends play bluegrass every Thursday at the Willowbrook Ale House in Petaluma from 6:30-9:30 p.m. There is no cover, and you get to hear some of the finest traditional bluegrass in the North Bay. The regular pickers are Ed Neff on mandolin, Mike Wilhoyte on guitar, Jeff King on bass, Paul Shelasky on fiddle, and banjoist Larry Cohea. The address is 3600 Petaluma Boulevard North. Coastal folk fest -- The Central Coast Folk Festival in Shell Beach (near Pismo Beach) starts on the 15th and runs through the 18th. Some of the acts to see are Jim Nunally & Dix Bruce, The Lost Boys, Jill Knight and lots more.

Fiddles and more in Sonora -- Fiddle's Etc. (old-time fiddle, country, bluegrass) will be sawing away on the 15th from 6-8:30 p.m. at Mike's Pizza in Sonora. For more information call (209) 586-2042.

Nellies in San Francisco -- The Atlas Cafe presents the best in live bluegrass and old-time music every Thursday night from 8-10 p.m. On the 15th see The Barefoot Nellies play, with John McNeill sitting in on guitar.

Jammin' in Marin -- The Marin Bluegrass Jam which has been running for over 9 years now, takes place on the first and third Thursdays of every month. On the 15th you can join in at the Marin Lutheran Church at 649 Meadowsweet in Corte Madera, just off the Corte Madera exit of Highway 101. The time is 7:30-10 p.m. The playing level is beginner to intermediate. It is a big room, so there is also space for those who may want to go and listen.

Justis in Sacramento -- Kathy Barwick will be playing lap steel on the 15th at the Fox and Goose in Sacramento with Poetic Justis. Show time is 8 p.m. PJ is Kathy, Michael Justis, Steve McLean, Warren Jones and Frank Mouton.

Jammin’ in Berkeley -- Thursday night is beginners jam night at the 5th String Music Store, 3051 Adeline Street, in Berkeley, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Martians in Santa Barbara -- See the Salt Martians play bluegrass every Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. for happy hour at the Tupelo Junction Cafe, 1218 State Street, in Santa Barbara. Call (805) 899-3100 for dinner reservations. Full bar and no cover.

Jammin’ in Sacto -- Every Thursday evening, from 7-10 p.m., there is a jam at The Fifth String Music Store, located at Alhambra & J Streets in Sacramento.

Blythe bluegrass -- The 22nd Annual Blythe Bluegrass Festival goes from the 16th-18th, and some of the acts you can see there are Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Dailey and Vincent, Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass, Cedar Hill, IIIrd Generation Bluegrass Band and Sawmill Road.

Weekend bluegrass in Clovis -- Coming up on the 17th at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Clovis will be a one-day bluegrass festival. Admission includes instrumental workshops and musical entertainment for six hours. See the bands The Grass Less Traveled, The Dalton Mountain Gang and The Grasskickers. Life's railway to heaven -- Jon Hager of the country music duo The Hager Twins, mainstays on the Hee Haw TV show back in the 70s, died in Nashville on the 9th. He was 67. His brother Jim passed away last May.
