The California Bluegrass Association is very pleased to finally offer an instructional camp for kids during our 38th Annual Father's Day Festival in Grass Valley this year. We will still offer Kids on Bluegrass, our performance activity for young people and our expanded KidFest, our recreational activity. We have hired Bluegrass Camps for Kids ( to produce a four day camp for 8-16 year old young people. Beginning to advanced musicians are welcome to enroll in this camp and it will include instruction on multiple instruments, dance, songwriting, singing, and a performance on one of our stages on Saturday. The faculty will focus on bluegrass, old time and folk music. Bluegrass Camps for Kids produces free standing camps in many states including Alaska and Hawaii and also produces camps attached to festivals. Please go to their website to read about their program.

We are enrolling now via our website The four day camp (Thursday through Sunday, June 13-16, 2013) costs $300 (some scholarships are available) and does require that a parent/guardian attend the festival. (We need to have an adult on site if needed). I can be contacted by email at or telephone 510 735-6364 for any questions. Also, if you'd like a printable file of the Camp for Kids poster let me know and we'll get it to you.

Please forward this email to any families you think might be interested or to any instructors who teach young people. We are registering students now and will limit attendance this first year to 35 students.

Thank you,

Darby Brandli, President and Liaison to the Youth Program
