SCV Fiddlers

This Sunday, February 3, 2013, the SCVFA jam is 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the
Hoover Middle School, 1635 Park Ave. (at Naglee), San Jose. Details
are at the Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers Association's website:
www.fiddlers.org. Around 3:00 PM, we will also hold our annual
membership meeting to elect two trustees. I will also talk about the
state of our association, which is doing very well.

BEGINNERS CIRCLE (SLOW JAM)

Our Beginners Circle (slow jam) will be taught by Dave Barton, a
composer of many fine tunes. Dave's tune "Too Late Schottische" won
first place in the 9th annual Fiddle Tune Composition Contest of the
American String Teachers Association held in Nebraska. Dave also wrote
the "Golden Anniversary Rag" to celebrate Howard and Jeanette
Jackson’s 50 years of marriage. It was published in the February 2012
issue of the Fiddler's Rag, our monthly publication. Thank you Dave!

MARCH 3 KIDFIDDLE WORKSHOP BY LUKE ABBOTT

Next month, on March 3, Luke Abbott will again teach our KidFiddle
Workshop starting at 2 PM. Luke was so popular last October that we
asked him back again. Youths 17 and under can participate and should
be able to play a tune. Tuition is $5. Luke's goal is to bring out the
natural musicality in each student through an emphasis on playing by
ear and musical awareness. Luke teaches fiddle, guitar, banjo,
mandolin, Dobro, bass, and singing in Santa Cruz.

ONCE-A-YEAR HELP WITH STORAGE LOCKER SUPPLIES

If you drive, we could use help once a year or less to assist others
to carry some supplies from the storage locker to the jam. It's an
easy one-mile drive and you'll be assisting others.

AMAZON SHOPPERS

Amazon gives us a small referral fee every time the link on our
website is used for purchases. It adds up and costs you nothing.
Contribute by using the Amazon link on the lower left side of the
www.fiddlers.org website.

ALL-VOLUNTEER NON-PROFIT

Please help out as best you can. The SCVFA is an all-volunteer
501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Fiddlingly yours,
Richard Brooks
