SYNOPSIS OF THE MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 9, 2012, BOARD MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
Tim Edes, Chairman of the Board, called the meeting to order at 10:00am at the Darbi Brandli’s house, in Oakland, CA.
A. ROLL CALL
Board Members Present: David Brace, Darby Brandli, Bruce Campbell, Tim Edes, Montie Elston, Steve Goldfield, Dave Gooding, Mark Hogan, Jack Hyland, Jim Ingram, Geoffrey Sargent
Board Members Absent: none
Officers Present: Colleen Hogan, Carl Pagter, Mark Varner
Members Present: Bruno Brandli
SETTING OF THE AGENDA
After one addition, the agenda was set and approved.
APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 17, 2012 BOARD MEETING MINUTES
The Nov 17 minutes were approved.
The board approved the following position by unanimous vote:
Tag Committee Chair and Tag Committee Member – Dave Gooding
The following positions are unfilled:
Member Giving VP
Membership Recruitment VP
Ice Booth/Ice Wagon Coordinator
Gate Crew Coordinator
Stage Lighting (evaluating position)
FDF and Music Camp Signage and Coordinator
The Board agreed to create a Signage Coordinator position to work on signage for both Music Camp and the FDF festival. The person appointed to this position will be accountable for proposing a signage plan and budget.
Great 48 Update
The hotel came up with new rules to restrict jamming, however it is now resolved. Some common- sense rules will be developed and handed out to CBA guests when they check in.
Member Business Advertising Revenue
The Board assigned Jack Hyland to the position of Advertising Coordinator.
Bluegrass Today Web Site
Darby Brandli announced that the CBA is now a Group on the Bluegrass Today website. This is an opportunity to advertise to a different audience.
The Board agreed to hold a membership contest in the month of January, one for new members and one for renewals. This will begin at The Great 48.
Meeting and Greet with California Bluegrass Organization
Darbi announced that there is a “meet & greet” reception at the Great 48 on Saturday from 4:00-5:00pm in the Presidential Suite. This is a chance to interact with people from other bluegrass organizations in California.
Lucy Smith, Area VP for the Butte/Tehama area, is putting on a concert with Audie Blaylock & Redline on Jan 22, 2013.
David Brace is working on a concert for the Modesto area sometime next Spring.
Bruce Campbell reported that as of 12/8/12, the current membership is 2422 as per the CBA website. Nine new members joined in the past month and 61 renewals.
Montie Elston distributed the Balance Sheet for November. He will complete the year-end report on Dec. 31.
Music Camp Report
Geoff Sargent reported that we are on track for the 12/15 rollout of the Music Camp website & online registration. Hard-copy registration forms will also be available soon.
Darby gave an update on Bluegrass Camp for kids. The contractor has signed contracts and we have our first enrollee.
Tim Edes stated that he had no additional items other than those covered in the agenda.

Next meeting is set for Saturday 1/5/13, 10am-1pm, at The Great 48, DoubleTree Hotel, Bakersfield, CA
Meeting adjourned at 1:10pm.
